Social and Demography History of the West-North of Russia and Karelia (1500 — 1800); Local peasantry communities in the perspective of microhistorical studies (district, village, household, family); Karelian monasteries and Church parishes: foundation and development of a system in the Early Modern Time; Data-bases as a set of mechanisms towards getting on a potential historical information (altar dedications, documentary evidences of mass character by means of GIS-technologies); Documentary sources study and editing to be published.

Scientific International Experience:

1) Productive co-operation in the long-term Finnish-Russian Academician Project: «History of Karelia in the light of documents» (1980—1994). The documentary materials, which were discovered in the Russian, Finnish and Swedish archives, were edited then by our common efforts with Prof. Veijo Saloheimo and Dr Kimmo Katajala  (Karelian Research Institute at the University of Joensuu), collected into the three volumes series, and published in Finland (Joensuu, 1987, 1991, 1993). It was held with respect by Soviet scientific community in History (see: senior-scholars’ of Leningrad Branch of the Institute for Russian History of Academy of Scienses of USSR Dr. Igor Shaskolsky and Dr. Zoya Dmitrieva observation in «Istoriographiya Dorevolyutsionnoi Karelii: Itogi i Perspectivy Izucheniya. Petrozavodsk, 1988») and was accepted with the great interest in the West Europe (see: professor of London University Michael Branch’s responce in «The Slavonic and East European Review». London. Vol. 74. 1. Jan., 1996).
2) Participation in the University of Joensuu Research  Project «Karjala — Historia, Kansa, Kulttuuri», supervised by the Finnish Society of Karelian Culture. In result the book, edited by Pekka Nevalainen and Hannes Sihvo, was published as one of the volumes for fundamental SKS series (Helsinki, 1998).

9) Initiation of International long-term Teaching-Editing-Research Project 
between Petrozavodsk State University, Max-Planck-Institute for History (Germany), the University of Joensuu (Finland) and the Institute of History of Russian Academy of Sciences (St-Petersburg, Russia) in order to promote international cooperation in the field of research, editing and publishing the documentary sources  and teaching activities (Agreement was signed by rectors of Universities and Directors of Institutes involved on October 14, 2003). TERP is developing by Investigative Laboratory for Local and Microhistory of Karelia                   , that is created at the History Faculty of PetrGU in 2004 by my initiative and leadership.
An Agreement for TERP collaboration to be continued was signed on 28 of November, 2006, and then once more on 25 of February, 2010. Since 2006 our partner in Germany is the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the Christian Albrecht University at Kiel.

11) Membership in History Pilot Group for the Cross-Border University (CBU) foundation. An Agreement is signed by rectors of several Finnish and Russian Universities, being initiated by Finnish Ministry of Education. Hictory Pilot includes four institutions of Higher Education: Petrozavodsk State University (Russia), Universities of Helsinki and Joensuu (Finland), and Saint-Petersburg European University (Russia). The current work for creating a new programmes and distance courses, developing the teaching and studying to the multi-stage process in frames of Bologna Protocol has place on the moment (2006—2008).
